Special Projects

Project 00 X AbbVie

In our first collaboration with AbbVie Pharmaceuticals, we’ve created a public washroom area for our visitors. Unlike most big events, in which the toilets are hidden away in a remote corner of the venue, we are seeking to draw attention to our restrooms and make them an attractive and festive area of the fair. The project’s facade features a mural by MISSING which humorously spotlights the daily difficulties of people suffering from bowel disease. On the other side of the mural are 18 toilet stalls, five of which serve as art installations (while remaining fully functional!): Ori Shifrin uses toilet paper rolls as the building blocks and tiles of a new, soft and welcoming toilet stall; Gal and Idan Sharir have transformed the toilet stall into an intimate, insulated recording room where every sound becomes part of a musical composition; Studio KipKop by Guy Megides and Tamar Yogev have wallpapered the stall with a classic tile design whose tiles each feature a common Israeli plant; Gabby Salzman brings the dinner plate into the toilet stall, presenting it along the walls as aesthetic typography; Rachel Lapidot and Sagi Maman have created a “Solitary Party”, a toilet stall that wishes to privately celebrate the moment we can finally let go.
